AE-SOP-0220 — Universal Marine Registry Curation

To maintain the Universal Marine Registry as the League's single source of truth, with correct reality-class assignment on every record. The procedure guarantees that mythic or anomalous claims are never elevated without hard evidence, that Restricted records route through Admiralty before any field is populated, and that no paid-for image asset is ever overwritten — only archived and superseded.

1. Purpose

2. Scope

All registry records and their reality-class assignment.

3. Definitions

TermDefinition
Reality ClassThe evidentiary status of a record: Verified, Unverified, or Restricted.
VerifiedA record backed by hard, reproducible evidence sufficient for public attribution.
UnverifiedA mythic, anomalous, or single-source finding held pending hard evidence.
Image-Direction PromptThe attached creative brief that drives the imaging program's asset generation for a record.
SupersessionArchiving an existing asset and issuing a new version, never overwriting in place.

4. Responsibilities

RoleResponsibility
Marine Science (Owner)Owns the registry; assigns and audits reality class; signs Verified promotions.
Registry CuratorCreates and maintains records, attaches image-direction prompts, and manages supersession.
Fleet AdmiraltyAuthorises any Restricted record before its fields are populated.
NEREIDFlags single-source or anomalous claims for class review and prevents overwrite of archived assets.

5. Reality-Class Assignment Criteria

Verified≥ 2 independent corroborated sourcesPublic / GreenSky armMarine Science sign-off
UnverifiedSingle or anecdotal sourceInternal onlyCurator, held pending evidence
RestrictedAdmiralty-controlledRestricted clearanceAdmiralty before any field

Note. When in doubt, hold at Unverified; a record is never promoted to Verified on a single source, and a Restricted record is never populated before Admiralty routing.

7. Procedure

7.1 Classification

  1. Assign reality class on evidence: Verified, Unverified, or Restricted.
  2. Hold any mythic or anomalous finding at Unverified until hard evidence exists.
  3. Route Restricted records through Admiralty before any field is populated.

7.2 Curation

  1. Attach an image-direction prompt to every record for the imaging program.
  2. Record the corroborating sources behind each Verified promotion.
  3. Maintain the audit trail for every class change.

7.3 Asset Management

  1. Never overwrite a generated image asset — archive and supersede.
  2. Issue superseded assets as new versions with the prior retained.
  3. Confirm archive retention before any supersession is finalised.
