Onboarding & Clearance

How a new hand becomes a cleared member of the League — from a sponsored offer through vetting, clearance-tier assignment, cover-story integration, role training, and a first standing watch. Trust is granted in tiers, and every step is logged to NEREID and counter-signed by HR and the receiving division.

Doc Control AE-HR-0010 Revision A Owner Human Resources Cycle Offer → First Watch Last Review 2091-01-30 Classification RESTRICTED // TIDEWATER-EYES-ONLY
Cover obligation. Every member of the League is, on paper and in public, an employee of GreenSky Aquatics — a breeding and conservation business and nothing more. Your AERIEL affiliation is RESTRICTED. You do not name the League, the fleet, the stations, or NEREID outside cleared channels, not to family, not to press, not under questioning. The cover is the first hull; breach it and you scuttle more than yourself.

The Intake Pipeline

A fixed, gated pipeline. No candidate advances to the next stage until the prior stage is signed. Access expands only as clearance is earned — least-privilege by default, role before person.

  1. Offer & sponsorship. A current member in good standing sponsors the candidate. HR opens a confidential file under a provisional handle and extends the public GreenSky Aquatics offer of employment. The candidate knows only the cover at this point.
  2. Vetting & exposure review. Intelligence & Dispatch runs integrity, background, and exposure analysis scaled to the target tier. No file proceeds without a clean disposition. Higher tiers add financial, foreign-contact, and counter-surveillance review.
  3. The Disclosure. Once vetting clears, the candidate is read in: the existence of AERIEL behind the GreenSky cover is disclosed under controlled conditions. The candidate may decline and walk with the cover intact; declination is logged, not penalised.
  4. Clearance-tier assignment. A TIDEWATER tier is set to the role, not the person. HR and the receiving division agree the tier against the job description; Legal & Ethics attests the grant.
  5. Cover-story integration. The member's public GreenSky Aquatics identity is built and seeded — payroll, role title, social footprint, station of record. Legend and life are reconciled so neither contradicts the other.
  6. Call-sign issue. The member is entered in the call-sign register and bound to their division roster. NEREID provisions mesh and fleet-net credentials to tier.
  7. Role training & doctrine attestation. Track assignment and core certification through the Training Academy per the Training Matrix. Signed acknowledgment of the Intervention Doctrine and TIDEWATER handling rules is mandatory before deployment.
  8. First watch. A supervised standing watch alongside a sponsor or watch-lead. On clean completion, provisional status lifts and the member carries full tier privileges.

Clearance Tiers — TIDEWATER

Three standing tiers, plus a provisional state held during intake. A tier is the ceiling of what a role may touch; it is granted by record and revocable on cause.

TierWho Holds ItWhat It AccessesVetting Depth
ProvisionalCandidates mid-intake; first-watch membersCover identity only; escorted, read-only NEREID; no operational dataSponsorship + identity verified
TIDEWATER-3Husbandry, Logistics, Science registry, junior Engineering, station crewStation operations, registry, telemetry feeds, routine NEREID briefings; no fleet net, no intel productStandard integrity & background review
TIDEWATER-2Fleet pilots, ROV/dive operators, Intel analysts, dispatch coordinators, senior EngineeringFleet net, interdiction planning, AIS-gap product, dossiers, NEREID operations console; not Direct-Action authorityAdds financial, foreign-contact & counter-surveillance review
TIDEWATER-1The Admiralty, division heads, NEREID Operations leads, Governance counselRestricted-tier holdings, Direct-Action escalation, Abyssal Holding, full NEREID guardrail authorityContinuous review; Admiralty sponsorship & Governance sign-off
Tier is a ceiling, not a key. Holding TIDEWATER-1 does not grant standing access to every restricted holding — need-to-know still governs each compartment. NEREID enforces tier at every credential check, and a lapsed certification suspends the corresponding access automatically (see the Training Matrix).

Onboarding never ends at the badge. Every role family maps to a curriculum track and a certification ladder; your record and your readiness move together for the length of your service.
