Training Matrix

The canonical map of every role family to the certifications it must hold, the clearance gate each credential sits behind, and the interval at which it must be renewed. Currency is enforced: a lapsed safety- or doctrine-critical certification suspends the corresponding TIDEWATER access at the next NEREID credential check.

Earn these through the Academy. Most credentials in this matrix are delivered as curricula by the Training Academy — Intervention Doctrine, Survival at Sea, Dive/ROV, NEREID Operations, and more. Role families and reporting lines are defined in the Job Descriptions.

Enforcement. Certification currency gates access, not tenure. NEREID reconciles the matrix against the call-sign register nightly; reminders fire at 60, 30, and 7 days before expiry, with a hard-stop at lapse. A member off-current on a doctrine-critical credential is pulled from the corresponding watch roster until restored.

Currency Rules & Recertification

Certifications do not persist on service time. Each carries a renewal interval, and the certification ledger drives the reminder cadence and the hard-stop. Annual-interval credentials are clustered into a fleet-wide Recertification Window each first quarter to consolidate instructor time and minimise station downtime, with rolling exceptions for new hires and deployed crews.

Doctrine & Direct-Action are absolute gates. No member deploys without a current Intervention Doctrine attestation, and no Direct-Action escalation proceeds without a current DAA-210 holder authorised by the Admiralty. NEREID will refuse to stage either path on a lapsed credential — it cannot be overridden at the console (see the NEREID Console).
Currency target. Fleet certification currency holds at ≥ 98.5%. Any role family dropping below current on a doctrine- or safety-critical credential is reported to HR and the receiving division head on the morning watch.
